Lisbon Parks and Gardens: Picture of Parque das Nacoes (Nations Park)The many gardens and public parks of Lisbon add an important element of green to the city, with a number being based around Lisbon city centre itself. Many of the parks are used as outdoor venues for summer Portuguese festivals and concerts, or simply as a spot to relax, soak up the strong sun and enjoy an ice cream.

The biggest and perhaps the most significant park in the whole of Lisbon, the Parque Eduardo VII is spread over almost 30 acres / 12 hectares and offers endless recreational attractions. With an outstanding collection of tropical plants from many different countries, the Lisbon Botanical Gardens (Jardim Botânico) is a leading example of horticultural excellence.
