Lisbon Churches and Lisbon Cathedrals

Many of Lisbon's most beautiful buildings come in the form of churches and a particularly grand cathedral, which all showcase Portuguese architecture at its very finest. The Sé de Lisboa Cathedral is one such structure and building commenced during the middle of the 12th century, following the Moorish invasion, which is believed to have strongly influenced its fortress-like appearance.

If you visit Lisbon's Sé Cathedral, look out for the Romanesque and Gothic-style facade, the crib of Machado de Castro, and the cathedral's interesting museum, where many historical religious artefacts and paintings are displayed. Entrance to Lisbon Cathedral and its chapels is free of charge, although the museum does need a small admission fee. Some of the main churches are displayed below.
